My Background
- My pronouns are she/her/hers.
- I attended Asbury University for my undergrad, and received degrees in psychology and social work.
- For my master’s in social work, I attended the University of Louisville.
- I was born in Lexington but grew up in Northwestern Pennsylvania. Kentucky has a way of drawing people back, though – I returned for my undergrad and never left!
- I enjoy working with adults, particularly cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers/families, to address medical anxiety, grief, and pain management.
My Approach & Philosophy
- A value of mine is cultural humility; I strive to ensure therapy remains a non-judgmental space for all identities and cultural backgrounds.
- I earned a specialization in psychosocial oncology and have a Certification in Oncology Social Work. In addition to oncology, I’ve met with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and stress accompanying life changes.
- The opportunity to create a space where clients can voice concerns, share fears or worries, and grow and develop new skills are all things I love about my role as a therapist.
- I have experience utilizing CBT, DBT, ACT, MBCT, and MI.
- One of my innate strengths (identified by CliftonStrengths) is individualization – a curiosity toward each individual’s unique qualities and an intuitive observation of their motivation, style, and how they build relationships. I blend this with evidence-based and strengths-based approaches. It’s essential for me to consider what research shows is helpful and how these treatments fit each unique individual who sees me for therapy.
- My approach to therapy combines my natural talents with an intentional and thoughtful dedication to evidence-based treatments.
- I support a holistic approach and value tending to our mental, emotional, physical, and even spiritual health.
- With me, you’ll be sitting down with a therapist who meets you where you’re at, helps identify and utilize your strengths, and introduces thoughtful research-supported approaches.
Fun Facts
- I have two cats named after two of my favorite things – coffee and Gilmore Girls.
- I love everything Italian – homemade pasta, the history, and I am trying to learn Italian. (Learning a language as an adult is a struggle!)
- Other things I enjoy doing are reading, watching television, listening to podcasts, taking evening walks, playing New York Times games, and at-home yoga.
- I prefer salty snacks over sweet – I’d take a bag of dill pickle potato chips over a cookie almost any day.
