If your child is struggling with expressing their emotions, handling stress well, getting behind in school, fighting with everyone, or just not really sure what is going on. We can help! Located in Lexington, Danville, and online, Resurgence Counseling offers a variety of services to support our youth in achieving better mental wellness. 

Services

At Resurgence Counseling Center, it is our mission to provide tailored mental wellness services to both assess and treat each individual and help them achieve their own goals for life. We offer individual sessions, family sessions, and case management for children and teens to help assist in their mental health goals. 

Individual Sessions

We offer individual sessions to help support children and teens with their mental health by using a variety of modalities and treatment options. We focus on individualized treatment planning and goal setting to ensure mental health services are tailored to your children and teens. 

Family Sessions

We offer family sessions to help support children and teens with their mental health while also focusing on communication and coping skills for the family unit. 

Case Management

Not every child needs case management, but for those that need assistance in finding resources, advocacy, or chaos management we offer our case management services to support the child and family. 

Common Childhood Mental Wellness Concerns

Depression

Common Symptoms of Depressive Disorders in Children:

  • Irritability
  • Withdraw from social activities or things they used to enjoy
  • Increased isolation
  • Increased fatigue or tiredness
  • Sudden behavioral problems at school
  • Changes in eating or sleeping habits
Relationship Issues

Difficulties communicating through different childhood and teen stages can feel very isolating for the child and frustrating for the parent. Add in peer issues and sibling fights and your child may feel like everyone hates them or that they don’t know how to talk to people anymore. Finding ways to communicate as a family can help solve difficult issues today and tomorrow. 

ADHD

Some Inattention Symptoms: Easily distracted; Loses items easily; Difficulty with organizing; Difficulty following instructions; Frequently forgetting to finish homework.

Some Hyperactivity Symptoms: Talking a lot; Difficulty sitting still; Running or climbing; Blurting out answers

Stress Management

Life can be really overwhelming when you are learning new things every day! Sometimes kids need help developing new coping skills and processing through life stressors such as school, friends, or future worries. 

Anxiety

Childhood anxiety disorders are characterized by extreme fear or worry (out of proportion to the situation) that impacts a child’s functioning. This might be seen by some of the following:

    • changes in mood
    • sleep disturbance
    • muscle tension
    • increase irritability
    • changes in eating
    • fear of social situations or of being away from caregivers
    • school refusal
    • fidgeting/jitteriness
    • shortness of breath
    • racing heartbeat
